Battle of the Witches / All Hallows Tourney
Game Farm Wilderness Park in Auburn, Washington
Rani Lily Douglas (your local French gypsy) has challenged Mistress Alexandria del Monaco (the espresso queen) to a "friendly" battle.
Event Fee: $5.00 per person, 12 and under free
Feast: Potluck with a “Stone Soup” theme. Bring meat and veggies to add to our cauldron of Witches Brew. Bread and cheese can be a nice side dish as well.
Archery: Scarecrow Pumpkin Shoot
Head = 1 pt, Mouth = 2 pts, Eyes = 3 pts, Nose = 5 pts, Body = loose 1 pt
NOTE: Only varnished wood arrows or fiberglass is recommended as the pumpkin juice can rot the wood. Some paper targets will be available also.
Arts & Sciences: Were hoping for a Harvest theme or anything dark and spooky, but any entries are appreciated.
Combat:
Shinai Field battles. You choose your side. Each battle counts for 1 point toward the winning Witch.
1 - Capture the Witch
Each side must get to the other side to capture the opposing Witch and safely escort her to a designated area. The Witches are impervious to attack.
2 – Kill the Witch
Each side must kill the opposing Witch (Regicide-type battle). The Witches will be throwing tennis balls as “spells”. If you are hit, you are “confused” and must drop your weapons and spin around 9 times. Then you may retrieve your weapons and resume the battle. Hits received while spinning count – though we request sword combatants verbally announce death – like with death from behind.
3 - Revive the Witch
Each Witch will stand on one end of the field. Their own combatants shall throw tennis balls as “spells”. Each hit counts for 1 step forward. The first Witch to reach the line of combatants is revived.
Individual Tourneys – Shinai, Rapier and Steele (if available)
Combatants line up. The first person fights everyone in line, one by one. The marshal will keep track of wins/losses. Go to next person and they fight everyone, one by one until all combatants have gone thru as the main combatant. The Marshal will tally to winning battles. Individual battle for a tie-breaker will be done if necessary.
Other Activities:
Mistress Anne Yoemans of Caroline has offered to teach a Lucet class.
Carving Contest – Please bring your own medium to large pumpkin
Pumpkins Toss – Please bring your own small pumpkin to launch from the catapult for the best distance! Messy, but fun! (BTW - we’ll need help cleaning up after this one.)
Bobbing for apples - apples provided.
